☐ How Recycling Supports Essential Products in Various Manufacturing Supply Chains

Summary: One positive effect that has come out of the life-changing events surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic has been a shift in how we look at recycling as a society. For years, the public perception was all about the environmental benefits of recycling and keeping usable material out of landfills. As recycling became a bigger part of our daily lives over the past 30 years, companies came to rely on recyclables as feedstock in their manufacturing processes. When nationwide lockdown policies first hit, waste and recycling companies scrambled to ensure classification as an essential business. We also quickly realized that recycling was about more than the environment. Products such as boxes, paper towels and tissues, beverage cans and grocery packaging all rely heavily on recycled content and a reduction in recycling efforts threatened that supply chain.
In this session, hear enlightening facts and statistics about how much we depend on recycling to help fill the needs of our manufacturing base.
